Garbage & Recycling in the BIA

Regular commercial garbage and recycling pick up in Bronte is Tuesday and Friday mornings. Items must be put in grey or blue wheeled carts at the curb by 7am that morning. If you wish to order a free wheeled cart or need a replacement, please contact Halton Region by calling 3-1-1 or emailing accesshalton@halton.ca.

Don’t put lose garbage or compost bags out overnight – it just feeds hungry racoons and makes a mess that is the responsibility of the bags’ owner to clean up. If this happens, don’t call the Region for this micro-cleaning. Building owners or tenants must complete this work themselves.

However, do call 3-1-1 to report bulk item dumping. Large items will not be picked up by the Region or Town for either commercial or residential. Please call a local private company to dispose of this material.

In addition, the Region empties the Town’s black metal litter receptacles on Mondays and Saturdays (summer only). This is for commercial litter – coffee cups, take-out containers etc. – not for household or business waste.

If you have residential tenants, remind them they have their own residential garbage, recycling, yard waste and green cart pick-up on Tuesdays. Household garbage clogs the metal litter receptacles and they overflow, making them unusable.

Note: When a statutory holiday falls on a Monday, commercial garbage and recycling pick-up scheduled for Tuesday in Halton gets bumped by a day to Wednesday. For example, Monday, May 23 (Victoria Day) is a stat holiday, so pick up for Bronte businesses moves to Wednesday, May 25.
