5 Stories: A Community that Takes Care of Each Other
‘Tis the season to be merry and bright – and to reflect on how fortunate we are to be part of a community that takes care of each other.
Here are 5 examples of the generosity of spirit that exists in Bronte:
- Starting November 17 until November 26 – Mel from Zara’s On Wheels (pictured) is giving away free lentil soup, no purchase necessary. Just a free cup of delicious soup from a one-of-a-kind business owner.
- We love this story! In June at My Girlfriend’s Closet, a young client was shopping for a dress for a date. All the customers in the store jumped-in to help find her the perfect look – and while she was in the change room, one of customers purchased the dress for her. Total strangers coming together in the spirit of giving…and fashion!
- This past fall, Bronte’s three churches and The Legion worked together to collect donated coats for the 10th Annual Bronte Coat Drive. In all, 1,600 coats were donated by members of the community and distributed to families in need on October 14.
- As new businesses arrived in Bronte this year, Acorn Flowers was first in line to greet them – delivering beautiful bouquets to welcome them to the neighbourhood.
- When sisters Ann and Liz, owners of Simply Green Baby, wanted to rent a bouncy castle to celebrate their store’s anniversary, they decided to invite other businesses to join the party…and this was the seed that grew into The Bronte Block Party. What a party it was!
