New Electric Vehicle Charging Stations in Bronte
Did you know that Oakville has one of the highest electric vehicle (EV) ownerships per capita in Ontario? The Town of Oakville is creating a community-wide network of electric vehicle charging stations to encourage more people to use electric vehicles and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Bronte is now home to two electric vehicle (EV) charging stations located on Bronte Road at Marine Drive and on Ontario Street at Nelson Street where two vehicles can charge at the same time.
Electric Vehicle owners should use the ChargePoint app to pay for charging. Fees are $1.50 per hour for up to three hours and $5 per hour after three hours. Parking fees also apply when parking in the commercial districts, Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm.
Electric vehicles must be charging when parked at the charging station. Standard combustion vehicles and electric vehicles that are not plugged in can be ticketed with a penalty of $125 for parking in the EV charging station parking spaces.
