Longtime Favourite: Bronte Fish & Chips
Since opening in 1968, Bronte Fish and Chips has been the go-to fish and chip shop, beloved by many locals in the area. The popular, family friendly restaurant serves fresh halibut, cod, sole, haddock and fresh-cut fries made daily from local potatoes. The Bronte BIA interviewed co-owner Simone Waddell, who runs the business with husband Todd, about their experience in Bronte and taking on the iconic family business.
How does it feel to be one of Bronte’s longest running businesses?
“It feels great being Bronte’s longest running business” says Simone. In working for her parents as a young girl, Simone grew up alongside many of the restaurant’s present-day customers. “We have gotten to know many of them and their families and honestly feel we have the best customers in the world. They have watched our family grow and always ask how my parents are doing. We have felt like we are a part of Bronte’s heritage.”
What are your favourite parts of Bronte now?
“The best parts of Bronte are having a beautiful harbour. It is a hidden gem and we are lucky to have a great location to go for walks. We meet so many people that come from out of town to see this beautiful little town.”
What would make you love it here even more?
I think if we had more parking available for our visitors it would help make this town even better.
