Bronte Market Square Ground Mural Officially Named “What a Wonderful World”
The official unveiling of the Bronte Market Square ground mural took place on Sunday, October 27, 2024. Guests enjoyed live music, a free Zumba class, light refreshments and a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The ground mural is part of a high impact placemaking project led by the Bronte BIA that is shaping the social and physical character of our new public Square and creating a space for community connections and interactions.
STEPS Public Art’s Kseniya Tsoy worked with the Bronte Community to create a mural that reflects the spirit and identity of Bronte Village. From the lighthouse and salmon, to the strawberries and apple blossoms and music notes and water, the result is a co-created work-of-art.
If you take a walk in the rain, you’ll also see surprise elements that are only visible when activated by water!
It was during the painting of the mural that Kseniya came up with its name: What a Wonderful World. She was struck by the kindness she received from local business owners, residents and visitors and felt that it was a perfect title. Fun fact: the music notes that weave their way through the mural represent the notes from the song, Oh, What a Wonderful World.
