Create. Learn. Share. Connect. 2023 Culture Days are Here!

A national and local celebration of arts and culture, Culture Days run from September 22 to October 15, 2023.

Celebrate creativity everywhere, everyway and attend free events in Oakville. Pre-registration is recommended for some activities. The calendar of events is subject to change and some programs have capacity restrictions. Sign up for select drop-ins up to seven days in advance.

Here are 12 unique ways to create, learn, share and connect through arts and culture in Bronte:

  1. Tour our beautiful waterfront and surrounding businesses and check out our At Home in Bronte Muskoka chair art installation. Designed by local artists, including Sheridan College students, there are 90+ chairs to explore. Each one has a hidden lighthouse icon waiting to be discovered.
  2. Check out the new public art in our neighbourhood:
    • Filipino-Canadian artist, Chris Perez, transformed the south-facing wall of The Bronte Legion into a spectacular work of remembrance and art.
    • There’s a newly unveiled public art installation at 2370 Lakeshore Rd W – the future home of Amica Lakeshore. The project was created in partnership with The Bronte Historical Society, Sheridan College and Amica Senior Lifestyles and is inspired by Bronte’s rich history and evolution as one of the most inviting places to live, work and play in the GTA.
    • Visit the Zara’s On Wheels Food Truck to admire another work of art by Chris Perez. His vision was to create a vibrant composition that pays homage to Bronte’s waterfront, while showcasing the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern roots of the food offerings at Zara’s On Wheels.
  3. Develop a deeper understanding of Indigenous heritage and walk the Moccasin Trail along Bronte Creek starting at the kiosk at Rebecca Street and Mississaga Street. (Self-guided)
  4. Explore Bronte’s rich and dynamic history at The Sovereign House and tour an art exhibit.
  5. Explore the return of the World of Threads Festival on October 10, after a five-year break, with its opening weekend at Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre (QEPCCC).
  6. Participate in Art Swap: Portraits for Community Love workshop with youth mural Artist Yen Linh Thai on October 14 at QEPCCC from 1 to 4 pm.
  7. Enjoy a watercolour workshop at QEPCCC, hosted by Maryna Salagab on October 14 from 2 to 4 pm.
  8. Delight in musical performances all day on October 14 at QEPCCC by High Rendition Jazz, Canadian Caribbean Association of Halton, Kerr Street Big Band, Oakville Wind Orchestra, Intrada Brass and Oakville Symphony Orchestra.
  9. Check out Theatresports with Oakville Improv Theatre Company at QEPCCC on October 14 from 4 to 6 pm.
  10. Enjoy town-led drop-ins at QEPCCC on October 14 for hands-on fibre-based and Digital Maker Space activities all day long, plus All Ages Clay (Parented for 6+) in the afternoon.
  11. Visit a Seniors Art Show and Sale at Sir John Colborne on October 14.
  12. And don’t forget about the Culture Days Animal Critters foldable activity! Copies can also be picked up at Town of Oakville Culture Day sites and most Recreation and Culture facilities.
