Meet Maryam, Owner of Breeze Hair Salon

Meet Maryam Tolou, owner of Breeze Hair Salon. Maryam immigrated to Canada from Iran 28 years ago with her two children. She had been in the beauty industry for 17 years working at various salons in the GTA before making the decision to open her own business in 2013. The Bronte BIA got a chance to interview Maryam to talk about her business – she’s hiring! – and her thoughts on Bronte.

What are you known for?

Maryam is not only the salon owner, but specializes as a colour technician and has a Master Stylist license. Her expertise and experience in the beauty industry has allowed her salon to service more than just hair. At Breeze, you can get your nails and makeup done, laser and skincare treatment, makeup tattooing and men’s haircuts.

What do you love about Bronte?

Maryam loves the village like feel of Bronte. “It’s very old-fashioned; a classic feel to it,” she says. The beauty of the waterfront in combination with the small village feel makes Maryam happy to come to work. “Being a single mom with two kids, I could not go on vacations. Bronte feels like a resort to me. Any time after work, if it is nice outside, I go by the water and it feels like a vacation,” she says.  

Maryam also loves the support from the community. She says, “My customers are like family. Even during the pandemic, they were texting and calling me to make sure I was okay and always checking in.”
